SPLC Anti-Racism Group Indicted For Paying KKK Informers And The Story Just Gets Crazier From There

Civil rights NGO, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has been indicted by the Department of Justice (DOGE) for “manufacturing the extremism it purports to oppose by paying sources to stoke racial hatred.”

The SPLC’s defence is that they were paying undercover informants within the organizations they were attempting to dismantle/defend against.

But then the justice department is saying that’s wrong as they gained “money via donations through materially false representations and omissions about what the donated funds would be used for”.

OK, so then the SPLC should have told donors that they were paying informants in the KKK and blow there cover? What? Does the Department of Justice not understand what undercover means?

Speaking in a news conference, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said: “The SPLC is a non-profit entity that purports to fight white supremacy and racial hatred by reporting on extremist groups and conducting research to inform law enforcement groups with the goal of dismantling these groups.”

“The SPLC was not dismantling these groups. It was instead manufacturing the extremism it purports to oppose by paying sources to stoke racial hatred.”

According to the BBC: “the indictment says the non-profit sent more than $1m over nine years to a person who had infiltrated the National Alliance and stole 25 boxes of documents from the headquarters of the violent extremist group for the SPLC. It alleges that in total from 2014 to 2023, the SPLC funnelled more than $3m to individuals associated with various violent extremist groups.”

OK, so I guess what still needs to be found is that these paid individuals were paid specifically to incite violence and then did just that. Like the DOJ alleges, “the SPLC sent more than $270,000 to a person who helped to plan, and attended, the deadly white nationalist Unite the Right event in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017.”

Because currently, this just looks like a politically motivated hit job. Like, is the police department in league with drug dealers because they have undercover narcs? No.

Paying informants isn’t the same thing as funding and supporting these organizations. Obviously. And the money spent looks like a lot but over a long period of time, to multiple people paid to do dangerous work it starts to look more reasonable.

Because to me, on the surface this just looks like it’s in bad faith. The Trump administration has been against DEI and inclusion and Civil Rights and all that from the start. The SPLC could just be another target in their scattergun approach to the culture war.

And even if the DOJ doesn’t win the case, distrust has been sown and the organization has been bogged down in a protracted legal battle.

Mission accomplished.
